Scripture: Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain on their own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured: his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them. Mark 9:2-3 And a cloud came, covering them in a shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, "This is my son, listen to him." Mark 9:7
Prayer: Sometimes in the darkness before dawn, I feel that I too have been led up onto a high mountain, as I sit patiently waiting for the Lord's sunrise.
Response: And isn't it worth acknowledging that you have never been disappointed. In all climates of life's circumstances—cloudy, rainy, blustery, raging storm-tossed—the Lord has revealed Himself in the silence of a brilliant sunrise. Even In the depth of sorrow, sorrow, despair, alienation, loneliness, frustration, disorientation, the Lord reveals Himself to you, as His Transfiguration touched those few apostles that accompanied Him that day.
And remember that you are more than a sightseer alone in the dark and silence, you are witnessing a transformation of who you were to who is unfolding within you. Not a person passing in a crowd might notice the transformation that is taking place within those who find themselves alone in prayer, transfixed.
Listen to the declaration: This is my son, listen to him. Allow these words to resonate deep within you. And instead of wondering what happened in this gap of time, consider the importance of listening intently to these words that touched you.
