Scripture:“Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." Luke 6:38
Prayer:Show me your generosity.
Response:Not more can be added to this and the preceding verses. As love is imprinted on your heart so is generosity which flows from love – love of self, love of family, friend, and especially stranger. There is no choice here all are to receive full measure.
Yes this guidance is imprinted on your heart and you can tell it clearly when you have to consider whether or not to manifest that awareness. The internal debate in which you sometimes engage should be enough to encourage you to end the debate. Consider generosity as an action to take that has no alternative. You are especially rewarded when you gift the downtrodden in spirit and material among you.
Consider also the surprise, even elation, when you realize the bountiful return – packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, poured into your lap – received for an act and continued acts of generosity. As hinted at in the verse, the surprise might catch you unaware miles or time distant from your action. However, don’t dismiss the reward as an accident but see in your generosity a communion with Him of boundless love.
