We have found the Messiah

Scripture: The first thing that Andrew did was to find his brother and say to him: "We have found the Messiah—which means the Christ—and he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John; you are to be called Cephas—which means rock. John 1:41-42

Prayer: Let me be filled with Andrew's excitement and fervor to share this Savior whom I sought and found.

Response: Notice how Andrew went first to someone he knew intimately and loved to share the good news of discovery—he went home and not among the throngs that were coming in droves to see John the Baptist along the Jordan. This discovery was so important that he had to declare this truth to someone closest to him, his brother, who, up until Andrew's insistence that he meet Jesus, was busy attending to his affairs as a fisherman.

When did you first have an Andrew that insisted you meet this intriguing individual? Was it left alone in a chapel to pray during a retreat, being pummeled by orphans so glad to see you on your weekly visit to their orphanage in the Bronx, on a military base in Taif, Saudi Arabia sharing a gospel truth with a Moslem parachute lieutenant, at a funeral service for your spouse who passed on in West Virginia, or on a wind-swept beach at dawn? You see Andrew is with you always, insisting that you follow him to the Lord.

So this day, see if you can be the one who encourage someone who seeks to be alone in prayer, the orphan who playfully or even roughly reminds of one that he has been missed, the patient one who respects another's seeking, the compassionate one who knows grief, or even the one that stumbles upon a solitary who might be desperately lonely.
