My Kingdom is Not of This World

When Pilate asked Jesus if He was the king of the Jews, Jesus responded. “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews …..” Jesus’ Kingdom is not of this world neither is ours. The Lord Jesus said, if His kingdom were of this world, then He would have His servants fight for Him. That is a message for us. Our kingdom is not of this world. Why then are we being over- zealous over one candidate over another? Why are some of us broken hearted because our candidate lost the election? Our kingdom is not of this world. Those of us who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior belong to Him, and our citizenship is in heaven. Jesus is the One to whom we owe our allegiance. Therefore Believers in Christ Jesus should not be looking to politicians to meet our needs. We have a Savior who promises to provide our every need.

The Lord Jesus told us in The Gospel of Matthew chapter 6 verses 25, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what your will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on….”. Jesus said, “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Does worrying help? No. Worrying hurts. Worrying affects our health. It may also affect our relationships with our family, friends and colleagues. Verse 27 reads: “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” None of us can.

Why then should a Christian become depress and lose hope, because the candidate he or she supported lost an election? “…There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Roman s 13:1. Are you upset with God? We are to be eagerly looking for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our hope does not lie in this earth. Our hope is in Christ.

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him.” Psalms 42: 6, 13.

Are you fearful? Why? Your successful candidate may not accomplish everything he said. He may not do everything he said he would. However, God is in control. The Lord Jesus told us in Luke 12:32, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Invest your treasure in heaven, and you will avoid some heartache here on earth. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34. Think on the Gospel of Jesus Christ - John 3:16 - and tell others about it.
