Pat Hyland and his Music Blog
By Patrick Hyland
Hello and welcome to my Music Blog. To let all of you know, this is my first blog writing. My blogs will consist of my own personal life of being a christian musician, suggestions by you (the readers), and anything else regarding music.
To give you a little background on me, and how I was able to blog on this website and also my musical background. To start off, I was selected through Sonicbids to be a part of this website. For all who don't know what Sonicbids is. Sonicbids is a way for venues and other music related services get in contact with artists.
Now, I bet you are now wondering, how did music come into my life and what I have done with it. It started off playing piano at the age of 8 years. When I was 13, I picked the guitar up and started taking lessons for it. At the time, I was taking both piano and guitar lessons every week. When I was 14, I joined my youth praise band. I started out as just being the rhythm guitarist for the band, but as the years went by, I started to take a much bigger role in the band, and by my senior year in high school. I was the youth praise band leader. In addition to still taking piano and guitar lessons through high school. At the age of 17, I took on voice lessons. Throughout high school, I started songwritting and trying to find my own style of music. Growing up with AC-DC, and The Doobie Brothers, I had rock roots, but when I picked up an acoustic guitar. It was Gods way of showing me that I can make this acoustic guitar sing like no one else. My music consists of strong acoustic sound, rock piano work, and soothing vocals, but I still use the electric guitar to give my music a unique sound.
Finally, anyone who is still reading this, if you are thinking I am just a kid who just took some lessons and is done you are wrong. I have been accepted to the Rudi E Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. I will be studying as a minor in guitar jazz studies. Moving to Memphis to me is Gods way of showing me, that he is showing me the door to my dreams, and with his guidance, I can accomplish anything.
Furthermore, I hope you all enjoy my first blog, and feel free to comment on anything in my blogs, my next blog will have a topic that will be open for discussion. Go with God, and know that he is always with you.
