Seven Words That Will Kill a Church
June 01st, 201304:53 PM ETWe've never done it that way before! or But we've always done it this way! Perhaps these words have come through your lips in the past. Maybe that's the way you feel right now. Why do we need to change? We've always done things this way. I like knowing what to expect. I'm comfortable with the way things are. I don't adapt well to change. I think, ... -
Traditions Can Snuff Out Life
April 06th, 201302:14 AM ETHow many times have you heard the expression, "We've always done it this way?" I've actually heard some professing Christians say, "I don't care what the Bible says, I'm going to do it my way." The reality is so many believers are stuck in their traditions that they believe their way of doing things is the only right way. It seems the ol... -
Man's Ways of Validating the Church
March 23rd, 201308:09 PM ETAs I continue to look around at this entity we call church these days it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Many who read this blog know what I'm talking about. Man has had his hand on things for so long that the way things are done today seem like the norm. Obviously, nothing could be further from the truth. God intended His church to be free. The e... -
Church Membership - Is it Biblical?
February 18th, 201312:43 AM ETMost believers join a church in order to be identified as a member of that particular church and/or denomination. Some people join a church for the status symbol it provides - that is if it's the "right" church. Some join a church because their ancestors were members of that church or they have some other family history with the church. People "joi... -
Organized Religion is Dysfunctional
February 02nd, 201308:49 PM ETYou know, the more I am around organized structured church folks the more I realize just how dysfunctional they are. According to Scripture we are to function together as one. Harmony and unity was prevalent in the New Testament Church. Today, however, we don't see that so much. Well, let me qualify that statement. As long as things are ... -
To Join or not to Join
January 12th, 201309:36 AM ETThere seems to be a good deal of emphasis on "joining" a church these days. I suppose it's been that way for a long time. In most churches in order to be involved or have a say in the what goes on in the church you must be a "member". If you want to have a vote when it comes time to make a decision you must be a "member in good standing" as defined... -
Is the Organized Church "Doing it" for You?
January 05th, 201303:27 PM ETAre you bored in the institutional church setting? Are you concerned about the lack of spiritual transformation you see in these organizations? How about yourself? Are you growing spiritually or do you find yourself spiritually stagnant? Perhaps you've noticed more spiritual growth outside the organized church setting than inside. What... -
The Early Church Did It Right!
October 15th, 201208:32 PM ETThe early church did it right. They produced followers of Jesus who had the reputation of turning the world upside down! The early church Christians are still teaching us how we are to live and grow in Jesus. Remember, being a disciple is about bearing fruit for the Kingdom of God. We do that by knowing Jesus and allowing Him to live H... -
DOING IT GOD'S WAY
September 25th, 201211:57 PM ETWe say we want to do church GOD'S way, but if we were doing it God's way we wouldn't be DOING church, we would BE the church He's called us to be. We spend far too much time doing instead of being thereby rendering ourselves ineffective for the cause of Christ. Being the church entails us living the way HE wants us to ... -
JESUS - THE REVOLUTIONARY!
August 17th, 201208:32 PM ETMost people acknowledge Jesus as the Savior, the Messiah, the Prophet, the Priest and the King. But looking back at an account of His life as He walked this earth, we see Jesus as a Revolutionary. Yet few Christians know Him as such and even fewer churches know Him as such. Jesus was a revolutionary teacher, radical prophet, provocative pr...

I'm an "outside the box" believer in Jesus. I'm not in to denominations or even "churchianity" the way its done today. I'm in to encouraging, edifying and exhorting God's people in their every day walk with Jesus. It's about a relationship with Jesus first and foremost. Once that's intact, the rest will flow naturally. Too often we put the cart before the horse. It's Jesus FIRST! At least it should be. I hope to use this blog, in part, to encourage believers in their walk with God.
