American Diabetes Month: Balance Your Blood Sugar & Balance Your Life

November is American Diabetes Month. A common and life-threatening disease, diabetes affects masses of people in the U.S., yet it’s a condition that can be prevented with proper, diligent care for your body.

According to the American Diabetes Foundation, “Nearly 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Another 86 million Americans have prediabetes and are at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.”

What is diabetes?

To understand diabetes, you first need to understand insulin and glucose. Insulin is a hormone secreted from the pancreas and helps glucose enter the bloodstream. Insulin is essential in helping to convert sugar, starches and other substances into energy. Glucose, which comes from both food and the liver, is a sugar that provides energy for the cells in your muscles and other tissues. When glucose levels are low, the liver produces more glucose. 12 Myths About the Hallelujah Diet

You sure can’t believe everything you hear. After twenty-three years, much has been said about what the Hallelujah Diet is and isn’t. A few of the most entertaining comments we have heard include: The Fountain of Youth, What the Energizer Bunny Eats, and A Disease Buster. Then, there are those who say: It’s boring, It’s not practical, and It’s Dangerous. So, we thought it was time to debunk a few of the myths. Some of them might even surprise our most ardent supporters:

The Hallelujah Diet:

1. It’s a vegan diet

True vegans don’t consume any animal products – nothing that comes from an animal source. While the vast majority of the food consumed on the Hallelujah Diet is from vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts, some exceptions include raw honey (made from bees), small amounts of butter (typically from cows) and fish oil (for DHA). So technically, the Hallelujah Diet is not a vegan diet though it is mostly vegan.

2. Whole grains are a primary source for nutrition

While people following the Hallelujah Diet often consume whole grain products we have learned over the years that ALL grains increase leptin and insulin levels. Additionally, many people have gluten sensitivity, the cause of many negative symptoms people experience. Although some people can tolerate whole grains, it is more likely that this food could in time, be a factor in causing chronic disease. The Hallelujah Diet does not encourage whole grain consumption. Health Education Week: Eliminate the Toxins & Replenish With Nutrients for a Lifetime of Vibrant Health

It’s National Health Education Week! Sponsored by the Society for Public Health Education, this week is all about promoting “consumers’ understanding of the role of health education in promoting the public’s health.”

In this spirit, we too want to shine a spotlight on how important it is to educate, inform, engage and elucidate. Health education is one of the instruments we use to strive for disease prevention and management, overall wellness and vibrant health for each and every person.

Health is the foundation in which we build our lives. With great health, we’re able to aspire towards our dreams with full energy, optimistically strengthen our relationships, humbly serve others and much, much more. But the unfortunate truth is, many of us have still not reached our potential for full health. Our bodies are constantly accumulating toxins from processed, unnatural food choices and ravaged by a host of environmental aggressors whether it’s pollution, chemicals in our cookware or cigarette smoke. At the same time, we are not fully replenishing ourselves with the complete spectrum of nutrients we need to thrive. FULL POST

How To Protect Yourself From the Ebola Virus

Ebola is a severe viral disease. It is caused by the Ebola virus which attacks the cells of the body. Its symptoms are fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, weakness and the list of symptoms go on. Right now it is concentrated in Africa, but Ebola deaths have showed up in the United States.

What can we do to protect ourselves from a disease they say there is no proven treatment for and usually results in the death of the individual?

Let me begin by saying that God did not design His human creation to ever experience Ebola or sickness of any kind!

To do so would be totally out of character for a loving God. So if God didn’t design man to be sick, why does man get sick?

In this article, I am going to reveal the mechanism God placed into His human creation to prevent sickness from ever occurring. I will also reveal how God, if man ever did experience sickness, provided a means for man to restore wellness to his body without medical doctors, toxic drugs, or expensive therapies. FULL POST

20 Keys to Protecting Yourself from the Ebola Virus

Ebola is in the news everywhere and on everyone’s minds. Fear and concern seem to be a common thread. Each day we tune into the news to see the status of the latest victim or the progression of the disease. We saw an article the other day entitled, “Are Rental Cars Safe from the Ebola Virus“. All this talk about a deadly virus can be frightening.

What we need to remember though is, ebola is a virus just like the flu virus. Sure, the effects of this particular virus can be devastating but it is still just a virus. What’s the point? Ebola isn’t something that God didn’t design the body to be able to defend against. The problem is that most people have weakened their defenses – or shall we say they have weakened their immune system.

Think about the word “immune”. Looking at the Oxford English dictionary (Ann’s favorite) we see that the definition of the word “immune” has two definitions: FULL POST

Bone and Joint Cancer

According to the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in 2014 there were approximately 3,020 new cases of bone and joint cancer and 1,460 estimated deaths. While the instance of bone cancer is certainly not as high as, say, lung, breast or prostate cancer, the NIH reports that new cases of bone and joint cancer have been growing by 0.4% on average each year over the last 10 years, with a 66% survival rate.

If you’re experiencing bone/joint cancer, or are cancer-free but still feel pain in these areas for other reasons, what are some sustainable, natural solutions that support the body’s efforts to alleviate or eliminate the day-to-day discomfort?

First, what is bone cancer?

Bone/joint cancer occurs when healthy cells within the bone and/or joints grow uncontrollably and form a tumor. Benign, or noncancerous, tumors can grow large enough to weaken the bone and add pressure to neighboring tissue. Malignant, or cancerous, tumors can spread to other parts of the body, including the lungs. FULL POST

Why Christians Are Just As Sick As Non-Christians

Listen to the prayer requests in the average Christian church today and you will find that most of the prayer requests are for sickness!

In fact, in most churches, the prayer requests for those who are experiencing physical problems dominate the prayer requests.

When you look at the general health of the Christian community and compare it with the general health of the non-Christian community – you will find no difference.

Why is this so?

Why is the Christian community just as sick as the non-Christian community? We will attempt to answer that question in this Health Tip.

But first, let’s begin with a few quotes from the Bible:

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth.”
 ~ 3 John 2

In this verse, the Bible tells us that God wishes us to be just as well in our physical bodies as we are in our spiritual souls. Why aren’t we? FULL POST

What You Don’t Know About GMO’s Could Kill You!

Have You Heard?
With all the attention being given to pink this month with all of the ribbons, races and sneakers, we thought we should make you aware of another very important reason this month is so special. Happy Non-GMO Month!

You won’t see it in any of the headlines, no non-GMO sticker attached to football player helmets and sadly, there are no races or money being collected to further the research that GMO’s are killing us.

However, since 2010, October has been designated as Non-GMO month. What does this mean? It means that there are now 22,000 manufacturers that are concerned enough to pay a significant amount of money to have a NON-GMO sticker attached to their product label. You see, there is no law that requires GMO ingredients to be disclosed on products.

What are GMO’s?
GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This experimental technology merges DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding. Genetic engineering is completely different from traditional breeding and carries unique risks. FULL POST

Why Do You Need Supplements If You Are Eating A Healthy Diet?

By fully committing to a raw, plant-based diet, you bathe your body with extraordinary nutrients that continuously feed your cells with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals that support optimum health. If that’s the case, then why do you need supplements? Shouldn’t your healthy diet be sufficient?

Supplements are indispensable to your holistic approach for vibrant health. Our resident research director, Dr. Michael Donaldson, sheds light on the four key reasons behind why our bodies require supplements to round out our healthy eating.

1) Our fruits and vegetables are not as nutritious as they once were.

Modern farming practices, such as the heavy use of fertilizers, pesticides and other substances, has resulted in soil that is almost sterile and devoid of trace minerals. As a result, our food is not as nutritious as it was decades ago. In a recent review on modern foods4, scientists found that the larger the yield of crop, the lower the mineral concentration. Furthermore, a historical analysis of the nutritional composition of fruits and vegetables has confirmed a decline in several nutrients over the last 50-70 years and, specifically, hybrid versions of broccoli, wheat and corn have also shown lower mineral content. What Makes The Difference Between Life and Death?

Most people can live the next 40 days without food, the next 4 days without water… but can’t live more than about 4 minutes without oxygen.

As you read these words, your chest is softly, rhythmically, and automatically rising and falling as air enters into and exits your lungs. You probably weren’t even consciously aware of this until I called it to your attention. Yet, without this intake of air, which contains oxygen, your physical life would come to an abrupt end.

Regarding the subject of oxygen, the Bible has this to say in Genesis 2:7:

“And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a Living soul.”

Clearly, God used two separate and distinct steps in the creation of man. First he formed man of the “dust of the ground” (See Genesis 2:7). At death, when a body is placed in the ground, it eventually reduces to the same ingredients from which man was originally formed – mineral ash or “dust of the ground”. FULL POST
