China's one child per family policy has resulted in a massive number of abortions. The Financial Times reported, "Chinese doctors have performed more than 330m abortions since the government implemented a controversial family planning policy 40 years ago, according to official data from the health ministry."
These 336 million Chinese abortions have been performed since 1971. Since 1973 about 50 million abortions have been performed in the United States which has a population of almost 314 million, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Meanwhile China has a population of 1,334,130,000 according to the World Bank.
The Atlantic asks the question, "Beijing seems to be considering a halt to its infamous family planning scheme, but is it too late?"
The one child policy resulted in a generation without siblings and as these children become adults, their offspring will have no aunts or uncles.
