Recently the Baptist Press a religious newspaper interviewed Dan Cathy and when questioned about the company policies and beliefs he made a statement affirming his faith. The statement:
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.” We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy emphasized.” We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles
He did not state that we will not serve gays, we hate gays, they are not welcome in our place of business. He stated "We are very much supportive of the family - the biblical definition of the family unit"
During an interview on the Ken Coleman Show he affirmed his faith. His statement:” I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about." FULL POST

The world is still reeling over the recent tragic events in Colorado. A long gunman enters a theater and shoots 71 persons killing 12. What kind of person would do such a thing? He must be a monster. Our society glamorizes violence, hate, and killing. Scenes of mayhem, violent acts of anger and rage in the movies, video games, and TV shows saturate our lives. These things have a greater impact on the weak minded, and the mentally unstable.
There is another factor to consider. Ephesians 6:12 KJV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. What happen in Colorado is an example of manifested evil. This is what demonic power looks like. We see it every day as many are killed in drive-by shooting, children wounded and killed while playing outside their homes, children snatched from their beds, kidnapped and killed, Innocent people caught in the crossfire of gang activity. Jeremiah 9:21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the street. FULL POST

Do you know how to pray effectively? A formula that I have found guarantees results in prayer. The formula is simple and involves the combination of prayer, God's word, and faith that God will honor his word. My motto for praying is: Speak the answer not the problem. The answer is in the word of God. God is so awesome and in his wisdom, his word covers every aspect of our lives and therefore an answer for our situations.
Sometimes we confuse complaining with praying. An example of complaining: God my rent is due; I don't know what to do. My husband don't love me, my children won't obey me. I am so sick in my body and the test results are not good. Please God help me. This sounds like you singing the blues.
An example using the formula ( prayer,God's word and faith): Heavenly father, thank you for being my God that provides for all of my needs. I agree with your word today that I shall not want because you are the good shepherd you take care of me. My husband loves me as he does himself and I reverence him. My children are obedient and rise up and call me bless. I bless you for all the benefits you have given me through the stripes on your body; you forgive my iniquities and heal my body. I run to you and am safe for you are a present help. I bow down and worship you for you are worthy and all power belongs to you. FULL POST

YOU MUST FORGIVE the word of God declares that you must do so. Jesus, became the sacrificial lamb that took our punishment, shed his blood that we may be forgiven. Jesus, dying on the cross set the example for forgiveness as he asked his father to Forgive them that were crucifying him.
Forgive as defined by Webster 1) to give up resentment of or claim to requital for forgive an insult : to grant relief from payment of, forgive a debt 2 to cease to feel resentment against (an offender) : pardon, forgive one's enemies. According to Strong's Greek Definition: aphiemi (af-ee-ay-mee) forgive is to. To cry, forsake, lay aside, leave, omit, away, remit, suffer.
Why must we forgive? In biblical terms when we ask God to forgive us of our sins what we are asking is that he takes away, wash and cleanse us from our sins, from our wrongdoing. We are asking him to release us from the penalty of that sin, to not punish us even though we are deserving of the punishment. We are asking him in essence to "let us go", to "overlook" our sins.
One of the conditions that God requires of us in order to be forgiven is to forgive others as well. Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Luke 11:24 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. FULL POST

President Obama position on gay rights has been according to him "evolving".
2004 radio interviews "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."
When asked his opinion of gay marriage:
2008 - “I do not support gay marriage. Marriage has religious and social connotations, and I consider marriage to be between a man and a woman.” State he support civil unions for gay couples but marriage is only for a man and a woman.
In 2010, he admitted that he struggled with the issue and that his views were "constantly evolving." In Wednesday's interview, he said he came to his new position over the course of several years. It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think that same-sex couples should be able to get married,"
He expresses that his daughters has friends who parents are gay and they would not understand why their friend’s parents would be treated differently.
At least one of his spiritual advisors, Joel Hunter, expresses "disappointment" on this change of position. FULL POST

Definition of Domestic Violence | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/facts_4855091_definition-domestic-violence.html#ixzz1t3It6IWc "Domestic Violence occurs when one person in the intimate relationship tries to hoard control over the other by using destructive behaviors that may include physical assaults, sexual abuse, stalking and emotional abuse. While victims may be either male or female, most victims of domestic violence are women. The violence may occur constantly or only sporadically."
Examples of domestic violence: belittling, putting you down, name calling, isolation from family and/or friends, withholding money in order to control you, physical, emotional and/or sexual threats, intimidations of all types, publicly embarrassing you, keeping you from getting or keeping a job, mind games to make you feel inadequate and stupid.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND IS WRONG. IT IS EVEN MORE REPREHESIVE AND DISAPPOINTING WHEN IT OCCURS IN THE BODY OF CHRIST. It is sad but true many Christians experience domestic violence in their relationship. What is even more shocking and upsetting is their mate is supposed to be a Man of God, sometimes even a pastor or religious leader.
Domestic violence in the church, in the pulpit has been an ugly dark secret whisper about but not openly exposed. The unfortunate event involving the powerful, anointed woman of God, Prophetess Juanita Bynum pull the cover off this situation. She was pushed to the forefront of this societal poison and put in a position of becoming the face of domestic violence in the pulpit. FULL POST

Jeremiah 9:17 states "thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women , that they may come ; and send for cunning women, that they may come : 18 And let them make haste , and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets". Unfortunately, this is a sign of the times that we are living in today.
The death of Trayvon Martin is one of many tragic events that we see far too often and one that his parents are determined will not just be another statistic. 28-year-old White Hispanic George Zimmerman admittedly killed their 17-year-old Black son Trayvon. Zimmerman stated Trayvon looked suspicious, was up to no good, and was on drugs or something. Trayvon was returning to his father's home after purchasing skittles and Ice Tea from the neighborhood store. George Zimmerman remains free and is using "Stand your ground" for his defense. He has not been arrested and has not been charged with a crime.
There are many unanswered questions which will never be answered without a trial. Questions like: what was "suspicious" about Trayvon's behavior? How did he determine that Trayvon might be on drugs? Why did he disobey the 911 operator instructions to "not follow Trayvon"? Had he been instructed before that his duties was to watch and report activities and not engage the person? Was Zimmerman tested for alcohol/drug following the shooting? Did he offer aid to Trayvon after the shooting (if a police officer had shot Trayvon he would have been required to offer aid to the victim)? Did he identify himself as a Neighborhood Watch person? Did Trayvon feel threaten and was he attempting to "Stand his Ground" FULL POST

A TIME OF ORDER
To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Eccl 3:1 During the month of January many of us made new year resolutions. For most Christians the month of January is also a month of consecration and renewal of spiritual vows. During this month of March, I hope that you are on target to achieving those goals, resolutions and vows. I pray that as you renewed your vows and made new ones to the Lord of our salvation that you consulted God about the things he desired for you.
As you read the bible, you will observe that God often gave very precise instructions to the men and women of God. Look at the precise instructions he gave to Noah in Genesis 6 concerning building the Ark. Exodus 28 is another example of specific instructions concerning the making of the robes for Aaron. God has a specific plan for our lives. He may not reveal the entire plan to us at once but he will guide us each step of the way if we allow him to do so.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge the Lord and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 Our God is a God of order. I encourage you this month to let it be a time of order and that you review your resolutions and identify the necessary steps to bring them into fulfillment. FULL POST

Prayer has many purposes but the most important one is that it allows us to be in communion with our heavenly father. When you are in love with a person you want to talk to them often, to be with them in their presence because it builds intimacy. Daily communion with God increases our ability to know the mind of God, his character, his desires and plans for our lives.
Prayer allows us to minister to our God by coming to him in adoration, praising and worshipping him. Prayer puts God to work on our behalf because we have now made our requests known to him and he is obligated to answer us by his word. Our prayer authorizes God to respond to our needs and change things on our behalf. Prayer releases God to bring his will to earth and establish his kingdom on earth.
Prayer allows us to hear the voice of God and receive direction and correction that will enable us to become powerful spiritual warriors. Prayer acknowledges God then he can direct our paths and order our steps. Prayer builds a hedge of protection around us. It gives us power and dominion over the works of the enemy. Prayer brings us into obedience with the word of God as he has stated "men ought always to pray" "pray without ceasing". FULL POST

Shepherd is defined as a person who herds, tends, and guards sheep. 2) a person who protects, guides, or watches over a person or group of people 3) a member of the clergy.
We know that Jesus spoke of himself as being The Good Shepherd. John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.. 14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
The shepherd is the watchman over our souls. They are responsible for providing guidance, direction, warning, teaching, encouragement, and comfort to God's people. The shepherd has great responsibility resting upon his shoulders however; he/she is not perfect. Sometimes the shepherd falls, or makes a mistake bringing shame to the religious community. Sometimes the pastor comes under physical attack in their bodies because the enemy knows that they will not compromise the word of God. Sometimes a attack is launched against their families bringing division and confusion, marriage-breaking spirits. Smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
It is paramount that we pray for the shepherd. Some of our pastors are experiencing "burn out" or becoming disillusion with pasturing a flock that will not be subject to their authority as pastors. I think a contributing reason for the fall of so many shepherds is that there is not enough armor bearers undergirding them in prayer and interceding on their behalf. FULL POST
