Awakening Intercession A Conversation (final)

Fri, Feb. 23, 2018 Posted: 08:21 AM

This is the last part of the series “Awakening Intercession - A conversation. This is a review of some of the points we cover last session, the role of the intercessor. Every job description has a set of duties that you are expected to carry out and master. As is it in the natural so it is spiritual.

Jesus the most powerful and Greatest intercessor of all times. He is the head and we are the body. God has not called you to be the lone ranger intercessor.

We talked about awakening intercession in you. if you are wondering or sensing that God is calling you to intercession, our purpose prayerfully is for God to give you a Rhema word as we talk about the different arena intercessors play a role in. We pray you will gain insight into what your role is and how to be more effective in that role.

In the third series, we used the illustration of “soup starters’ to demonstrate the application of intercession in different arenas

Levels of intercession/prayer: When a baby first learn to walk, he will fall down and get back up but as times goes on, he gains stability, strength and more mobility. When we first engage in prayer we may not always hit the mark because our understanding of what is required is limited. As we go on to know him, seek his face and allow the Holy Spirit to instruct us we will gain stability, strength, and mobility.

Now, what are the levels or different stages of intercession? I am not the expert. I’m sharing with you my experience and what I have learned through the word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit on my journey as an intercessor.

When I think about levels of intercession I think about Matt 7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Asking is the first level. We come before the father asking on behalf of ourselves, families, nations, pastors. Sometimes, the answer may come at this level. We have a perfect assurance that God will answer when we call on him, we have confidence that it his will to answer us. We believe without a doubt that he is more than capable to answer us and do exceeding abundantly more than we ask.

Sometimes, however, the answer does not come right away. This is where some believers give up. Intercessors will pump it up. They will intensify prayer and go to the next level.Seek. Seek is to go in search of, try to find or discover by looking for or to go to someone. Why is the answer not coming forth? What else is going on? What does the word of God say about this matter? What are my legal rights in this matter? At this level, you are seeking God to reveal himself, give instructions, give strategy etc. You may need to stay at this level and learn to sit quietly at the feet of Jesus so you can hear and receive instructions.

Knock. Knock is to strike a sounding blow with the fist, knuckles, or anything hard, especially on a door, window, or the like, as in seeking admittance, calling attention, or giving a signal as to knock on the door before entering. So, you started at level one, asking. The answer still has not manifested. What now? Without revelation knowledge, some may feel, well it must not be God’s will etc.

The Intercessor will pump it up. Take it to the next level. Intensify prayer. The intercessor begins to knock. God, you told me to call you and you would answer, you said you would show me great and mighty things which I know not. Open my ears that I can hear your instructions. Lord, answer my cry.

This brings us to the next level.Jesus instructs us to ask, seek and knock and gives assurance that when you ask you shall receive, seek you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. In the next verse, he uses the words asketh, seeketh, knocketh. When you see "eth" at the end of the word, it means to do so continually.8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. You must keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking until the answer is received. There are times when you will be called to pray for someone or something and the answer comes. Other times, you may have a prayer assignment. That is when you are required to make a sacrifice in your time and energy until you feel a release in your spirit to let that thing go.

Here, the message is you must preserve, intensify, be consistent and be persistent. Genesis 32:24 Then Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He ... But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me! Isaiah 62:6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.

I know you have probably heard many times things like God is not forgetful, you don’t have to keep asking him the same thing over and over. In the case of Daniel as he continues to be persistent and crying out to God when the Angel did appear to Daniel, he told him, your prayer was heard the first time but the prince of Persia withstood me.

A few years ago, I experienced another level of intercession called Worship. WORSHIP - A level of intercession. Let me share a testimony with you. A family member was in serious legal trouble. I began interceding for them. At some point, my mind was consumed with this. There is a thin line between praying and worrying.

One day as I was in the prayer room, I experience this. I saw that as I was praying at the fleshly level i.e. Oh my God, Oh God, help in a mournful way that I saw Satan dancing around me, laughing. But when I began to say, God I trust you, bless your name etc. Satan would back up.

From that moment, I determined I would not even pray about that situation anymore. From that experience, a song was birthed. My Worship is my Warfare. I decided after my regular prayer time that I would spend one hour in total worship. There is a verse in the song that says “THE SOUND OF MY WORSHIP BROUGHT TERROR TO HIS FACE NOW I WAS THE ONE DANCING AND LAUGHING ALL OVER THE PLACE.” Let me tell you that God intervened in that situation and victory was won.

As I close. I want to say that I believe there are a few intercessors who have mastered these levels. We called them Generals of Prayers. People who walk in that anointing my pastor Apostle Richard D Henton, Monument of Faith church was one. I believe that Bennie Hinn, Juanita Bynum, Cindy Trimm, Morris Cerullo to name a few operate at that level. In the governmental area, Dr. Mildred Harris. I must mention Prophetess Rose Mary Blackwell, Standing In the Gap Ministries who has mentored me for years falls into the category of a general in prayer. I’m grateful for her mentorship.

This series Awakening Intercession - A conversation are excerpts from the series I presented at the request of Prophetess Nori of Awakening Intercession Ministry. Thank you, Prophetess Nori Moore for this time of sharing.Prophetess Nori Moore, you are a force to be reckoned with.

SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. THE ANSWER IS THE WORD OF GOD. Heavenly Father, we come to you with a heart of gratitude and thank you for the high calling of intercession. What a privilege and honor to be called to stand in the gap for our families homes, communities, the sick, governments, mayors and all your people. We pray that the fire on the altar of our hearts will be lit afresh and never go out. We thank you for quickening and awakening our inner man to a fresh and renewed calling. Keep our hearts pure, our wills, minds, and emotions in a state of total surrender to you. Let everything in us long to please you and walk in the authority you have given us. Train us how to march on our knees into territories that we may never see but because of the anointing, we shall rise up in authority. Train us to be a terror to the enemy and tear down his kingdom while we exalt your kingdom. Strengthen each prayer warrior so that one day we too, will walk at the level of the General in prayer for your glory,. We ever bow down before you, lay prostrate before you, wait in your presence for your voice, our commander and every walk so close that we can hear the beat of your heart. Amen.
