On Monday, November 27,2012 early afternoon shots rang out at the conclusion of the funeral service for a 32-year-old man who was reportedly a Chicago gang member. The two men were shot as women, men and children began leaving the service. Chaos erupted as parents and children started running for their lives. Sorrow quickly turned to panic and disbelief.

Mary Sistrunk, the mother of the 21-year-old Sherman Miller told reporters her son called her 8:15 that morning. "He said, 'Mama, they're gonna kill me.' I said, 'They're gonna kill you where you lay your head? You need to leave from there and get God in your life.'" He was killed several hours later. I can only pray that in between the time, he spoke with his mother and he attended that funeral that he repented of his sins and ask God to save him.

Ezekiel 18:4 KJV Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Chicago streets are filled with gangs. Gang leaders and gang members who could be productive citizens could be doing some good in the hood and could be builders of communities rather than destroyers of the communities they live in. If you can lead, others to do wrong you have the potential to influence others to do right. If you can follow through on orders as a gang member, you have the potential to follow through on instructions on a job. You have the power of choice to change your destiny.

What gang leaders and members should consider is this: when you take the life of another, you have taken your own life. If you take the life of a young person then you have taken away their opportunity to become a parent (if they are not already one), to marry, to become a grandparent. You have stolen that opportunity from their parent who will never see them grow, marry, have children etc. At the same time, you have given up your right to do those things. When you are caught and sentenced you will have lost everything as well.

Do you understand when you are sentenced; your family receives that same sentence? If you have a child, how long will it be before the mother of your child tires of bringing them to see you in prison? How many visits will your parents, relatives make to see you? Chances are that your elderly parents will die and there will be no goodbyes. Children will take their first steps; go to school for the first time, make decisions without your guidance. Do you enjoy taking showers with people of the same sex? Do you like being told what to do and when to do it? Do you really enjoy looking over your back constantly, fighting for your life daily? Do you really want your child to join you one day as your cellmate because children will imitate their parents you know?

"You need to leave from there and get God in your life" God has given you the opportunity to CHOOSE LIFE, Jesus came that you may have abundant life. You need to leave the path of destruction and death and choose life. Should you somehow escape judgment and not be caught in this life you need to know with a certainty that you will not escape the judgment of God. A merciful God that stretched out his hand to you and told you to choose life.

This is a link to information on Gangs in Chicago: http://www.chicagogangs.org/index.php?pr=Chicago_Gangs I ask for daily prayers to be offered up on behalf of gang leaders and members that God will cause them to change their paths from darkness and draw them to his marvelous light. Pray for wisdom, knowledge, skill, and understanding of our leaders and pastors to come up with strategies to cause a shift in the gang community. NOTE: The violence continues four killed and 20 wounded over the Thanksgiving holidays.

SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. THE ANSWER IS IN THE WORD OF GOD. Heavenly Father, we ask that the BLOOD OF JESUS would pour out on our homes, cities, state, and nation and protect us from the enemy. We come in agreement, as we lift up every gang leader and member asking that you will send the Holy Ghost to arrest them. We bind up the strong man of murder, death, anger, jealousy, hatred, and unwilling to forgive. We bind up gang intimidation. Give them a blood transfusion and let your blood purify their hearts and minds. Cause them to hear your voice, repent and turn away from sin and turn to you. Show them that there is a better way. Your words declare that all souls are yours but the soul that sin shall die. It is not your will that any shall die and that is why you sent your son Jesus, to die on the cross for us. He was innocent but took our punishment even though we were guilty. We ask you, God, to open their ears that they may hear your voice, their eyes that they may see you standing with outstretched hands to them, circumcised their hearts, take out the stony heart, and give them a heart that yearns for you. Give them a mind that will seek to know you. We pray for a turnaround in their lives, we erect the wall of defense of your blood between them and destruction. Father, many of them are our families, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins and yes, even some that are fathers and mothers still caught up in the gang life. We cry as Rachel cried and refuse to be comforted for her children were not - were not saved, safe, delivered, set free. Father hear our cry, save them, deliver them, break the snare of the enemy, and make a way of escape for them. We are depending on you to bring them in from the north, south, east and west. You told us to fight for our families. We pray for the peace of God, the love of God to fill their hearts, let the spirit of repentance and conviction fall upon them. Visit them in their dreams, give them a vision, give them a personal encounter even as you did Saul and changed his name to Paul, and change his direction and purpose in life. We call every gang leader and member into their true purpose and destiny of greatness and service to you. Deliver them and make them deliverers. Your word declares Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Father, help them to choose life. We serve notice on Satan that when they call on the name of Jesus, they shall be saved. Father save our children. Give our leaders, pastors, those in decision wisdom, knowledge, skill, and understanding in what we must do to shift things in another direction. God we pray for those that have lost loves one due to gang violence that you would comfort them, strengthen them, and give them the courage to go on. We bow down to you and give you Glory in all things recognizing that in spite of what the enemy does ALL POWER BELONGS TO YOU.
