President Obama "Wait on the Lord"

text size A A A

President Obama delivered a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast 2011 and stated he is a Christian by choice. Was not raised in church. Came to his Christian faith later in life. "When I wake in the morning, I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to give me the strength to do right by our country and its people. And when I go to bed at night I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to forgive me my sins, and look after my family and the American people, and make me an instrument of His will.” (White House Speeches &Briefing)

WAIT ON THE LORD. President Obama statements during a candidate forum on October 26, 2004, Obama was asked to elaborate on his views of gay marriage and said he believes "that marriage is between a man and a woman" and "I don't think marriage is a civil right”. Transcript below.

PONCE: “Mr. Obama, you've said that your religious faiths, your religious faith, dictates that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Would you elaborate on that?”

OBAMA: “Well, what I believe is that marriage is between a man and a woman, but what I also believe is that we have an obligation to make sure that gays and lesbians have the rights of citizenship that afford them visitations to hospitals, that allow them to be, to transfer property between partners, to make certain that they're not discriminated on the job. I think that bundle of rights are absolutely critical.”

PONCE: “Excuse me, but as far as, why? What in your religious faith calls you to be against gay marriage?”

OBAMA: “Well, what I believe, in my faith, is that a man and a woman, when they get married, are performing something before God, and it's not simply the two persons who are meeting. But that doesn't mean that that necessarily translates into a position on public policy or with respect to civil unions. What it does mean is that we have a set of traditions in place that, I think, need to be preserved, but I also think we have to make sure that gays and lesbians have the same set of basic rights that are in place. And I was glad to see, for example, that the president today apparently stated that he was in favor of civil unions. This may be a reversal of his position but I think it's a healthy one. I think, on this, President Bush and I disagree, apparently, with Mr. Keyes on this, because I think that that kind of basic ethic of regard towards all people, regardless of sexual orientation, is a valuable thing.”(Source Real Clear Politics)

In 2010, he admitted that he struggled with the issue and that his views were "constantly evolving”. In interview with Robin Robinson (Good Morning America), he said he came to his new position over the course of several years. It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think that same-sex couples should be able to get married”,

He expresses that his daughters has friends who parents are gay and they would not understand why their friend’s parents would be treated differently.

WAIT ON THE LORD. Mr. President we encourage you to “Wait on the Lord”. We pray that as you walk on this journey striving to be a Christian (Christ Like) that you remember that the Bible is the instruction manual for Christians. Lean not to your own understanding but Trust the Word of God. You were right when you stated, “marriage is between a man and a woman”. That is not an opinion it is the word of God.

Your “struggle” is with accepting the Word of God as truth. His word does not change because our opinion changes. It does not change because society views people as being good or because we like or respect them. I am not preaching “gay bashing”. Love the person but hate the sin. God established marriage.

You are right and I agree they have a right to choose that lifestyle. It is understandable that if their partner becomes sick that they wish to be able to make decisions on their behalf etc. Give them those rights under Civil Union. Go ahead and grant them the privileges that go along with marriage but under the heading of Civil Union. If they are given these rights under Civil Union why would they demand to have what God has ordained but not according to his guidelines? Do not redefine Biblical marriage.

Do not take away our right to BELIVE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS. Do not take away our voice, silence and punish us for believing and obeying the Bible. Do not threaten our business; threaten our ministries because we express our belief. That is the spirit of anti-Christ (does not agree with Christ). You have an obligation to “train up your children to believe that the word of God is truth” I have a right to tell my children and grandchildren that God ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman.

Genesis 1:27 KJV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Matthew 19:4-5 KJV

4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read , that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said , For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Mr. President as an intercessor I pray daily for you without fail. The ministries I am connected with pray daily for you. You have done much on behalf of gay rights but we struggle with are you willing to take away our rights – the rights to stand up for what God says. Let it be said of your presidency that And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. 2 Kings 22:2 KJV

SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. Heavenly father we lift up President Obama to you and ask that you cover him with your blood. We confess Job 33:14-18 over his life and ask that as he waits on you that you seal your instructions in his spirit. Let him rise up early in the morning to seek your face, open his ears that he can receive your instructions, his eyes that he can see as you see and prepare his heart to receive what you give to him. Bind his feet to the path of righteousness as he leads this nation. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Let your blood cover and protect him, his wife, family and everyone connected to him. Keep them safe, give them peace and joy that comes from having an intimate relationship with you. We confess Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path over his life. We decree and declare Isaiah 11:2 KJV And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Let it be said of him that he did that which was right in your sight. Let him Bless you so you may Bless America.
