REJECTION: The definition of rejection: the act or process of rejecting. the state of being rejected something or someone that is rejected. Reject is defined as: to refuse to have, take, recognize, etc. 2. to refuse to grant 3. to refuse to accept someone or something.
I venture to say that every person has experience the feeling of rejection at some point in their lives. It is not a good feeling. No one enjoys the process of being rejected. A spirit of rejection indicates that the person feels unworthy of receiving any good thing and incapable of doing anything of worth, unloved, unwanted, abandoned, not accepted, pushed away, helpless, overlooked, and passed over. Rejection can have a lifelong impact on an individual. Rejection can come in many forms and reveals itself in various ways.
HOW IT COMES INTO EXISTENCE: Rejection can start in the womb. A teenager who is unmarried and pregnant, someone who is pregnant as a result of rape or incest, a married woman who experience an unplanned pregnancy at a time when she is establishing her career or have other ambitions, a pregnancy as a result of unfaithfulness, a mother who has consider or attempted abortion. Evangelist Angie Ray testified that her youngest child Kimberly Ray was unwanted to the point that Angie jumped off of steps and even took medication that she thought would cause an abortion. Later as an evangelist and while conducting a deliverance service she heard her daughter Kimberly begin to say in a voice that was almost unrecognizable to her “you didn’t want me” She had never told Kim this. She labored with Kim until she was released from the spirit of rejection.
Children can experience rejection during the divorce of their parents or death of a parent. A child may feel the parents love siblings more than they love them. As a child they may have felt overlooked in school by teachers, push to the side by other kids. Child may have been teased by others because of their appearance speech or life situation, perhaps a parent that was on drugs or in prison. Maybe their last name was different from other family members because they were a product of unmarried parents or parent remarried. A child who has been physically or sexually abused will experience rejection. Children placed in foster care or given up for adoption WILL experience rejection. (I will cover this area in depth in another blog soon)
Adults may experience rejection while seeking to establish relationship, spouse that has been cheated on, victim of domestic violence, and or passed over for job promotion or opportunity. Hurtful events and unkind words can be the catalyst for rejection. One of the worst areas to experience rejection is when it comes from someone that you trust or in a place where you should find acceptance – family and/or church.
WHAT IT DOES: A person dealing with rejection can find themselves struggling with fear of rejection. One person rejected me now everyone will reject me. You expect rejection and in effort to protect yourself you reject others before they reject you.
Self-rejection: This is the state of feeling unworthy, unloved and something must be wrong with me. A person dealing with self-rejection is high risk for depression and/or suicide.
Inferior complex: Everyone is better than me.
Angry: at yourself, everyone around you and the world in general, and Angry at God.
Rage: intense level of anger. Murder and mass shooting as a result of intense rage due to rejection.
Rejecting others: unable to receive love offer to you.
Untrusting: inability to trust others
Over sensitive: feels everyone is talking about you, looking at you, criticizing you
Critical: of yourself and those around you
Pessimistic: nothing good will ever happen to me.
Easy target: taken advantage of because of desperate need to be loved. This person is a high risk for becoming a domestic violence victim. This person who is looking for love in all the wrong places.
Perfectionist: a need to be perfect to prove your worth to others. Afraid of failure
Lack of compassion: no feeling for others, their needs or situation.
Insecure: unable to feel safe, capable and whole.
REJECTION WILL CAUSE YOU TO: miss opportunity to be loved because you are pushing away the person who is reaching out to you.
Miss opportunity to give love because you cannot love others until you know how to love yourself. .
Miss the will of God for your life. Your fear of rejection by man can make you miss the will of God because you are overly concerned about the opinion of man.
Miss the peace, love, joy and fulfillment that life has to offer you.
Miss the will of God because spirit of rejection keeps you from fully trusting God.
OVERCOMING REJECTION: Acknowledge not deny that spirit of rejection exist in your life.
Examine your life. When was the first time you remember experiencing rejection? Now, ask Holy Ghost to walk with you as you revisit the place of rejection and FORGIVE those that brought pain into your life willingly or unknowing. FORGIVE YOU CAN NOT OVERCOME REJECTION IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO FORGIVE AND LET GO OF THE PAST.
REJECT REJECTION: Rejection comes from Satan. Satan will always highlight the negative things in your life. Point out your weakness and use your failures to accuse you. He plants the seed of bitterness and causes your wound to become infected.
JESUS WAS REJECTED: Jesus, high priest touched by our infirmities, understands what you are experiencing. He was rejected but rejected the rejecter because he understood his rights and purpose. John 1:11 KJV He came unto his own, and his own received him. John 4:44 KJV For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country. John 5:43 KJV I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
ACCEPTANCE COMES FROM GOD: Accept his love for you. God so loved you that he sent his son to take your place…die for you that you may live. (John 3:16).That means you are VALUABLE to God. Mark 8:36 KJV For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
AGREE WITH GOD’S WORD: I am loved (John 3:16, Jer 33:3) I am wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) I am a new creation (Eph 2:15). I am renewed in my mind (Eph 4:23) I am blessed (Eph 1:3) I am redeemed (Eph 1:7) I am valuable (1 Peter 2:9) I am powerful (Luke 10:19) I am over comer (Rev 12:11) I am more than a conquer (Rom 8:37) I am confident (Phil 4:13) I am healed (1 Peter 2:24) I walk in freedom (John 8:36)I am filled with his spirit (Eph 5:18) I am armed & dangerous (Eph. 6:10-19) I am protected (Psalm 91)
SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. THE ANSWER IS THE WORD OF GOD. Heavenly father, thank you for so loving me that you gave your son, Jesus as a ransom for my soul. You saw me when I was filthy, unfit to live and not ready to die, others saw my faults but you saw the best in me. You loved me when I didn’t love myself. Father you never rejected me. Help me to forgive those that rejected me, bought pain, shame, hurt into my life. Help me to no longer reject, hurt, and hate myself. Forgive me for hurting those that really did care about me but I could not receive/accept their love because I didn’t know how to love. I can’t change my past but thank you God that I do not have to remain a victim of my past. I will no longer allow my past to dictate my future. Today, I received cleansing, healing and release through the Blood of Jesus from anger, bitterness, rage, jealousy, self hatred, insecurity, depression, and everything brought into my life through rejection. The Holy Spirit is healing me, making me whole. I receive and accept the love of Jesus in my life. Today, I declare that I love you God, I love myself and because I love myself I can now love others. I choose to walk in the liberty that you have given me. I am free, capable, and valuable and I can do all things through you that strengthen me. I now know that I was created to bring praise to your name and to give you praise. I release my past and embrace my future. I am who you say I am, your child. I trust you fully to perfect those things concerning my life Satan Shut Your Mouth, Jesus died to set me free. I’m walking in liberty. Jesus is Lord, Savior, Friend, Lover of my soul and keeper of my mind.
