Resurrection of Christ

text size A A A

This is the month that Christians all around the world prepare to celebrate, observe the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Many families are buying new outfits to celebrate the event, children are rehearsing their Easter speech and many churches will recount the last seven words of Jesus Christ. So what does the word “resurrection” means? Webster defines resurrection as: the event told about in the Bible in which Jesus Christ returned to life after his death 2) the resurrection: the event told about in the Bible in which dead people will be brought back to life before the day of final judgment 3: the act of causing something that had ended or been forgotten or lost to exist again, to be used again, etc.

When you hear the word “Resurrection” what do you think of? I think of the horrible punishment, the pain and suffering that should have been my death sentence BUT JESUS the innocent lamb of God, the darling of Heaven stood in my place. The Passion of Christ brought the image of Jesus suffering to life in a way that has greatly impacted my life. The combination of God’s word and having such a vivid image engraved in the mind is indeed a very powerful thing.

They beat him 40 stripes save one. At the end of each scourge were bones and rocks designed to dig deep into the skin and pull away flesh from the body. A crown of thorns pushed deep into his scalp to the point that blood streamed down his face. The image of his mother, Mary witnessing her child and her savior being beaten beyond recognition is hard to fathom or even imagine. Isaiah 54:12 KJV as many were astonished at you; so his appearance was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men. NLT version same verse Isaiah 54:12 puts it this way: But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.

During times of testing, sickness and challenges placed in my life I focused on the pain and suffering Christ took on my behalf. THANK GOD that is not where the story ends for if it did then this would be just a sad story. But on the third day, JESUS CHRIST ROSE WITH ALL POWER IN HIS HANDS. When the enemy attacks I can remind him that he lost the fight and Jesus Christ has obtained the victory for me. I will not lay down, surrender or give up the victory that my savior has obtained for me. Remember the enemy cannot take the victory from us. He can only have it if we surrender our will to him and come into agreement with him. SELAH.

The Resurrection of Christ means I am entitled to receive all the benefits of the cross and his resurrection. Freedom from the penalty of sin and death, guaranteed healing in my body, peace of mind, joy of salvation, power over the enemy, abundant life, strength of God, divine favor, divine protection, wealth and health, love of God, help from God, Ahh these are the benefits of the Resurrection of Christ and so many more the list is unlimited.

They put a crown of thorns on his head and inscribed these words: And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Matt 27:37 KJV. YES, JESUS CHRIST wears the Victor’s crown therefore I am victorious. Because Jesus lives in me I can face all my tomorrows with hope and confidence he will see me through. I can speak to every dead thing in my life i.e. health, finances dream, ambitions and gifts and ask God to resurrect them.

SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. THE ANSWER IS THE WORD OF GOD. Heavenly father we thank you for loving us so much that you sacrificed your beloved son Jesus that we may have life. Jesus, lord and savior thank you for showing us how to walk in obedience and loving us so much that you laid down your life in exchange for ours. You thought we were worth dying for and you did just that. No one else could have paid the price for there was no one else that was innocent of sin. Daily we desire to die to our flesh so that you,Jesus Christ will be formed and birthed in us. Let the same spirit that quicken Jesus now quicken us in our body, mind, will and spirit that we may do the will of the Father. We owe you so great a debt that we can never repay so we present to you our bodies as a living sacrifice. We surrender our will to you and ask that you glorify your name through us. We give you our hearts, withholding nothing but giving totally ourselves to you. Now, father be resurrected in our lives every day and make us a terror to the enemy. Never let us forget the price of redemption obtained through the cross and resurrection of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Now let us be all that you intend for us to be, do all that you intend for us to do and walk into our destiny victorious because Jesus Christ wears the Victor crown and as he is, we are Victorious. For this we give you praise, glory and honor forever, forever and forever.

This is a song I wrote entitled. “I Crown You. This is one of the verses in the song. “They put a crown of thorns on your head, purple robe on your back, called you the King of Jews. I crown you with my praise”. Let us bow down before him and crown him Lord of Lord. https://youtu.be/9ac-Ubobgug
