Over 1/2 Million Citizens Want To Secede From The Union

text size A A A

Little did the Obama Administration figure that their idea of giving average citizens a voice in government would turn out like this when they started their “We the People” section of the White House website. Citizens of 42 states have started petitions requesting that the Obama Administration allow them to peaceably secede from the United States.

I first heard about this yesterday but didn’t think a lot about it. I didn’t realize that the Obama Administration has promised to address any petition that gets over 25,000 signatures. Already the State of Texas has over 80,000

This whole backlash from middle America on the policies our Federal Government has been shoving down our throats is sure to cause Washington to take notice. It better!

Here is a list of the states and their current signature count. The link tied to the state is the link you can go to in order to sign the petition. Forgive me for not having them in alphabetical order but I am pulling them off the White House website in the order they are listed.

Will the White House Listen to “The voice of the people”?

I have never in my life seen such a move in such a short few days where people have responded so quickly. I cannot imagine that the White House and the Obama administration is not taking notice. The question is whether or not they will humble themselves and listen to the citizens of this nation or they will continue to ignore the voice of the American people. If they do, then this will go away. If they don’t then my friends, I must ask the question if we are seeing the beginning of the end of the union?

I do not advocate taking up arms against our fellow citizens. I believe if this is going to happen then it must be done in the same manner that Ghandi and his followers used in India. I honestly do not believe that the world or public opinion will allow us to have another bloody civil war. If enough people push our State governments then the principle of government of the people, by the people and for the people comes into play and we may see States petitioning for secession. If that happens, I cannot imagine any U.S. Soldier obeying an order to fire on the citizenry. Maybe I am naive.

The big question in my mind is how did we ever allow government to get so intrusive that 1/2 million Americans have signed petitions in 1 week wanting to secede from the Union?

Watching expectantly,

Pastor Duke
