                                                     “Bible” the Holy book

There are many of us who follow the Holy book diligently. As we turn every page, we seek answers to the mysteries of life and its solutions. Many people who have sinned often turn to Bible for sanctification. How does one distinguish if they are about to commit a sin? The three basic sins that people commit are love for money, lust and attachment to the material world.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Mark 8:36 (NKJV), "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"

Gambling is one the most common problems amongst the masses. One often wonders if gambling is looked upon as a sin or not? Per Bible – Gambling in itself is not a Sin. In fact gambling is legal in parts of Canada. But the love of money that comes from gambling is a Sin. Gambling as we know is wrong, or sinful. It is based on greed. A desire to take what does not belong to you. Few people might say, “it is just a game." If it’s a game then why not play these games without any money? The fact is, the appeal of greed is what keeps people interested in gambling. There is no good or bad gambling. Let’s take a look at the two sides of a coin.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Hebrews 13:5 (ESV), "Keep your life free from love of money, and are content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"

Casinos is a big no, we know that from the very start. Our brain says no, but our heart says yes, and that’s when the temptation arises. Walk into a Casino and you are bound to lose your hard earned money. We know this is a big scam to empty our pockets and our souls, for this sense less temptation.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible:First Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."

On the other hand we have “Lotteries”, another attempt of money making, by way of funding education or arranging social programs. People who often end up buying lottery tickets, seldom have any money to buy the ticket itself. But, the appeal of “getting rich quick” is a temptation one can’tresist, for those who cling to desperate means. The chances of winning a lottery ticket is minuscule, resulting in lives being ruined and further being frustrated.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Ecclesiastes 5:10 (NASB), "He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity."

Many people tend to play lottery or attend auctions, for the sole purpose of giving the money to the church or to some other good cause/charity. While this may be a good motive, reality is very few people use gambling wins for godly purposes.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Luke 12:15 (NKJV), "And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."

Studies have show that the vast majority of lottery winners end up in an even worse financial situation a few years after winning a jackpot than they were before. Very few people give their winning money to a good cause. In continuation to this, God does not need our money to fund His mission in this world.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Proverbs 13:11 says, “Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.”

God does not say that he would be honoured by receiving donated drug money or money stolen in a bank robbery. God does not need any money that was “stolen” from the poor in the temptation for/of the riches.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Timothy 6:9,10 (chapter 6, verses 9 and 10) was written around 62 A.D. It states:

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

An interesting evidence has been released by the National Gambling Impact Study Commission (NGISC) in June 1999, demonstrating a direct link between problem and compulsive gambling. More often than not, gambling results in divorce, child abuse, domestic violence, bankruptcy, crime, alcoholism and suicide. This in itself shows that gambling makes one commit all the Sins that are a big No in Bible.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible:(I John 3:4), whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness".

Gambling is not a Sin in itself, but may lead to Sinful activities. One can consider the laws of Bible or the laws of the state. One must always ask before doing anything: Is what you are doing legal? If not you are in deep trouble? Are you following IRS laws? One cannot justify themselves by saying, "I am doing this activity to raise money for the poor" does not make you a saint. If one must do gambling, then make sure it is in reasonable moderation, this would not be counted as a Sin.

Quotes on Gambling from Bible: Proverbs 13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathers by labour shall increase.

God encourages us to do honest labour in order to lead a healthy life. Gambling only goes to show the lack of faith in Gods endowments of our needs. It is said, Jesus encouraged all his disciples not to worry about the future and the needs. He promised that the heavenly Father would take care of his people as He took care of the birds and the flowers. Gamblers rely on luck and hope to receive reward without any labour. Due to the advent of technology and gaming, there are ample online games in the market. There are many ways like twitter enhance the interest of individuals to know more about games.
