In the summer of 1979 I saw a Christian film and thought, "I could become a Christian filmmaker." That summer my church showed a Christian film each Sunday night by pioneer filmmaker Ken Anderson.
Twenty five years later I got a job working on the TV series 7th Street Theater. Producer and Director Dave Christiano developed the series about a group of actors at a community theater performing skits to share their faith.
Production began in November 2004. The final day of shooting was July 31, 2009. We shot three seasons and a total of 64 episodes which aired on the religious TV networks.
All of the episodes were shot in a warehouse in Arden, North Carolina. The sets included theater seats, theater stage, green room, prop construction room and secretary's office.
Our actors worked part-time on the TV series. We had to shoot around their schedules. Since 7th Street Theater was a nonunion production, the crew gained experience working in a variety of different roles. I worked as production assistant, dolly grip, occasionally operated a boom microphone, read lines to actors off-screen and closed caption the episodes. FULL POST

When I was a child, my mom used a quote from the Bible to warn me about sinning: " ... be sure your sin will find you out." - Numbers 32:23
My mom was right.
Jerrod Christian may have finally learned this lesson too. A tornado struck Kingsport, Tennessee, while Jerrod was in jail. According to ABC News, his neighbors discovered their stolen property around Jerrod's home. Jerrod was charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft.
Among the allegedly stolen items discovered were an air compressor, Lincoln welder, and weed trimmer.
There might be another Bible lesson that applies to this situation. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

Christians are using the Arabic letter ن (nun) to show support for Iraqi Christians persecuted for their faith. Besides appearing in Facebook and Twitter profiles, the letter has been used on protest signs in France.
France 24 has posted a slideshow of French Christians supporting Iraqi refugees that recently fled the city of Mosul, Iraq.
Islamic State (IS) soldiers marked the homes of Iraqi Christians with the letter. Some of the homes are featured in this Universal Free Press photo collection.
USA Today reported, "Earlier this month, Muslim extremists who had captured the city ordered all Christians to convert to Islam, pay a tax or face execution. They later revoked the tax as an option." FULL POST

Twenty-six years ago I was preparing for my senior year of high school. The future looked so bright and I mistakenly assumed I was ready for adulthood.
There were many wasted opportunities during my time as a student. If time machines existed, I would go back to 1988 and give myself the following advice:

Dr. Mary Ruwart, a pharmaceutical researcher that develeped new medicines and author of Healing Our World in an Age of Aggression, estimates that more than 4 million Americans died prematurely because of the 1962 Kefauver Harris Amendment. Congress amended the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to protect consumers from dangerous drugs. The new legislation added 10 years to the testing of drugs.
The Food and Drug Administration reported, "Before marketing a drug, firms now had to prove not only safety, but also provide substantial evidence of effectiveness for the product's intended use."

This satellite photo shows the lights of the western hemisphere at night. Lights from the largest cities are visible from space.
Jesus told his followers, "You are the light of the world." What if satellites could photograph this spiritual "light"? What if we could see from a simple photo where Christians are most engaged in evangelism and worship, bringing glory to God?
When I was a child, I learned the song This Little Light of Mine by Harry Loes.
This little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine
All around the neighborhood
I'm going to let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm going to let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out!
I'm going to let it shine FULL POST

Do you give God room to do the impossible in your life? Bob Pierce, the founder of World Vision and Samaritan's Purse, inspired his co-workers to work on projects that looked impossible to achieve.
Franklin Graham quotes Pierce's definition of "God room" in his autobiography Rebel With A Cause:
"'God room' is when you see a need and it's bigger than your human abilities to meet it. But you accept the callenge. You trust God to bring in the finances and the materials to meet that need. You get together with your staff, prayer partners and supporters, and you pray. But after all is said and done, you can only raise the resources required. Then you begin to watch God work. Before you know it, the need is met. At the same time you understand that you didn't do it. God did it. You allowed Him room to work." FULL POST

The Associated Press has caused a Twitter flame war after tweeting the results of today's vote in the United States Senate on the Protect Women's Health From Corporate Interference Act of 2014.
Last month the United States Supreme Court recognized the right of Hobby Lobby to decline paying for four forms of birth control for its employees. Feminists and Democrats outraged with the decision pushed for new legislation to require corporations to pay for abortifacient contraceptives.
56 senators voted to end discussion on the bill while 43 senators voted to continue discussion. Senator Brian Schatz, a Democrat from Hawaii, did not vote and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, joined 42 Republicans in voting no. Sixty votes are requred to end discussion or prevent a filibuster. (Results at GovTrack) According to the Senate Democrats' website, "Senator Reid changed his vote to no (for procedural reasons) and entered a motion to reconsider the failed cloture vote at a later time. The Senate continues to debate the motion to proceed." FULL POST

Isaiah the prophet describes us as clay and God is shaping us by His hand. Our lives are a work in progress as God desires to molds us to be more like Him.
In Ephesians 2:10 we are described as "God's masterpiece" in the New Living Translation and "his workmanship" in the King James Version. God is the master craftsman and we are His greatest creation. God created human kind to have an eternal relationship with Him. This Bible verse also reveals that God has a plan for us before we were ever born.
Have you thought about God's plan for your life? What talents and spirituals gifts do you have and how are you using these abilities to honor God?
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." - Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Trinity Broadcasting Network CEO Matthew Crouch and Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, both work for large nonprofit organizations. The William Jefferson Clinton Foundation reported that in 2012 Chelsea worked 30 hours per week and received zero compensation.
Chelsea Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. Mezvinksy is a millionaire investment banker and because of his wealth, it isn't necessary for Chelsea to work outside the home for a paycheck.
TBN's 2008 Form 990 reports that Matthew Crouch worked for 40 hours per week and received zero compensation. Matthew's pay was the subject of a 2012 lawsuit. Joseph McVeigh alleged "TBN was not reporting director Matthew Crouch's income on its tax returns to avoid disclosure of his affiliation with TBN while Matthew Crouch was receiving money from a film company through TBN ..."
After McVeigh's lawsuit was dismissed, Charisma News reported TBN spokesperson Colby May's claim, "There was never any lavish or reckless spending of ministry money by the Crouches or any other TBN officials: no hundred thousand dollar motor homes for pets, private jets for personal use or any other unaccountable expenditures."
