Do you like movies based on real life?

Housing contractor Jason Veitch observed people stealing from a house that was under construction. A confrontation occurred and Gaston Gonzalez, a drywall worker, was shot and died. The Newnan Times-Herald reported that Veitch told the jurors, "I did not intend to shoot anyone. I was just scared to death and this was a terrible accident."

Jackie Carpenter authored 2 books about her family's struggle to see her son Jason vindicated:

  • The Bridge: Between Cell Block A and a Miracle is Psalm 91
  • Georgia Justice: Journey To Faith

The movie Stand Your Ground is based on these books.

Actress Francine Locke portrays Jackie Carpenter in the movie and Drew Matthews portrays Jason Veitch. The real Jackie Carpenter is a 911 operator in the film. Sandra Elise Williams appears in the role of District Attorney Evelyn Pitt.

I met actresses Francine Locke and Sandra Elise Williams at the Gideon Film Festival. It is interesting to watch the networking of Christian entertainment professionals bear fruit as new Christian films are made and audiences encounter stories of real redemption.

Locke recently acted in the movie In Gramps' Shoes and Williams is in the cast of Virtuous.
