Dead Sea Scrolls

text size A A A

The Dead Sea Scrolls were first discovered in 1946. These documents have increased our knowledge of biblical literature. There is a debate over who hid these scrolls. According to Wikipedia, "The scrolls are traditionally identified with the ancient Jewish sect called the Essenes, though some recent interpretations have challenged this association and argue that the scrolls were penned by priests in Jerusalem, Zadokites, or other unknown Jewish groups."
