According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper, a florist has been sued by the Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson for refusing to provide flowers for a gay marriage.
Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers & Gifts, told KEPR-TV:
"He said he decided to get married and before he got through I grabbed his hand and said, ‘I am sorry. I can’t do your wedding because of my relationship with Jesus Christ.’ We hugged each other and he left, and I assumed it was the end of the story.”
So what options do Christian business people opposed to gay marriage have in this situation?
- Withhold service like this florist shop did and face possible lawsuits.
- Serve the gay customers but pray for God to intervene and bring conviction of sin leading to repentance and salvation.
- Serve the customers but tell them that you are opposed to gay marriage and explain why by telling them that God determines right and wrong.
- Change careers.
How would you respond if you were in this situation?
