Your state might have a tax holiday this weekend.

Saturday August 3rd is a tax holiday in Alabama and Louisiana. The tax holiday for Florida and Tennesse includes both Saturday and Sunday. No state sales tax will be collected on many consumer items.

So this weekend is an ideal time to purchase supplies for your church or for students of families that cannot afford school supplies.

If you know a teacher that lives near you, consider asking them what school supplies their students will need.

Also there might be a Christian ministry in your community that helps needy students. For example, Middleton Outreach Ministry helps the homeless and also collects school supplies for more than 600 students.

Tax Admin lists the states with tax holidays here. You can then visit your state's tax website for additional information here.
