Prodigal Nation

Keep Calm

While waiting for a repair, I noticed an elderly man reading the Wall Street Journal. As he folded the paper, our eyes met and I commented on the headlines.

He raised a bushy eyebrow.

I ventured to ask what he thought about the North Korean threat. He frowned, but then in what must have been a time-honored tradition of respect, the old man rose, bowed slightly, and politely shared that his name was Sidney.

Sidney counted off the fourteen presidents he’d lived through—recalling their achievements and enumerating their faults.

As a veteran, he also knew every American overseas military engagement. He explained that nuclear threats aren’t new, but there are now more diabolical players in the game.

“Did you hear that Iran’s Ahmadinejad wants to be president again?” he asked. FULL POST

Stop Calling Our God Given Faith and Morality - Loveless and Biased

satan lies

By now millions have viewed the ad campaign which depicts two girls kissing at a sports arena while the crowd cheers as they watch on the stadium big screen.

They also watched the ad that shows two men holding and caressing the little boy raised by two homosexuals.

Then along comes the ad with the big tough guy sauntering down the street equating skin color, race and transgenders and homosexuals as all worthy of the love of real patriots. While there is not a real Christian that would not love all of them, two things are missing in this left wing slop.

First, we are commanded to love all sinners, but we can never say their sin is just perfectly normal. Second, is the fact that race and homosexuality are as far apart - as the east is from the west. FULL POST

How Roe Reveals the Hypocrisy of Sanctuary Cities

The most prevalent absurdity in modern America is the fact that we have blocked the entrance of 60 million of our own offspring due to Roe v. Wade, while we insist that those who pour across our borders illegally have a perfect right to be here.

Nothing lends itself to the definition of pure hypocrisy more than watching parades of protesters carrying signs, including some that say – “No human being is illegal.”

Oh really?

In the recent nomination hearings of Appeals Court Judge Neil Gorsuch, Senator Dick Durbin asked Gorsuch to explain how he could reconcile his belief that all human life is intrinsically valuable with the ruling of Roe v. Wade? His answer, although it may have been forced upon him, was the same as millions of Americans who are holding on to and fighting tooth, nail and claw to keep Roe on the books at all costs.

He replied – “Abortion is different because the unborn are not legally recognized as people.”

Even in America where snowflakes and Supreme Court nominees can mouth the greatest absurdities with complete impunity, this answer defies every standard and any hope of sane protocol when addressing the cry that – “no humans are illegal.” FULL POST

Christian journalist predicted rise of fake news 40 years ago

Malcolm Muggeridge

By Mark Ellis

As Americans ponder the implications of Russian involvement in the 2016 election – with charges of “fake news” flying about — one venerable British journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge, accurately predicted the rise of fake news 40 years ago.

Muggeridge was invited to give a series of lectures in 1976 at the behest of the Anglican cleric, John Stott, one of the most influential Evangelical leaders of his time. The talks were known as the London Lectures in Contemporary Christianity.

A journalist since 1930, Muggeridge watched the television camera usurp print journalism with growing dismay. He could see that TV’s enormous influence was “exerted irresponsibly, arbitrarily, and without reference to any moral or intellectual, still less spiritual guidelines whatsoever.”

He felt he was watching the disintegration of Western civilization, with “the media playing a major role in the process of carrying out, albeit for the most part unconsciously, a mighty brainwashing operation, whereby all traditional standards and values are being denigrated to the point of disappearing.” FULL POST

Obergefell and Roe: America’s Statutes of Omri

While America is holding its breath on the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to become the next Supreme Court justice it has become abundantly clear that he may not be all that he is cracked up to be.

Looking closely at his answers given to the senators and congressmen conducting the confirmation hearings have sent up red flags for all those hoping that Gorsuch will be the hero who halts abortions and reels in the excesses of the LBGT, namely Obergefell.

Reporting for the Christian News Network, writer Heather Clark says in an article entitled, “U.S. Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch: ‘A Fetus Is Not a Person’ Under the Law” notes that when Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill asked how Gorsuch could reconcile his belief that all human life is intrinsically valuable with his belief that Roe is settled in the law, Gorsuch answered with, “Abortion is different because the unborn are not legally recognized as people.” FULL POST

Why Should You Care About the U.S. Supreme Court?

Over the past week for twenty hours, people fired questions at Judge Neil Gorsuch. To put it frankly, it has been one long, tedious job interview! The hearing considering the nomination of Judge Gorsuch has catapulted the U.S. Supreme Court into daily headlines. Yet people still scratch their heads about the meaning and the role of the judicial branch of government. Let's review:

What are the branches of government? According to the U.S. Constitution, there are three branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial. The three branches are to have shared power to afford proper checks and balances. This is intended to cancel "power trips" of individuals and groups.

Why is it that most people consider the judiciary branch to be most powerful? Judicial activists took the small space allocated to the judiciary branch and cracked open a floodgate of unconstitutional law-making. The manner with which judicial activism has usurped the SCOTUS is shocking: It has wrongly created laws of the land instead of applying the U.S. Constitution. The original SCOTUS job description was to simply and directly uphold and apply the U.S. Constitution and its original intents. Interestingly, of the three branches, the judicial power was given the smallest amount of space in our Constitution. FULL POST

Confirm This: Our Supreme Court does not make the Supreme Law

Watching hours of the Neil Gorsuch confirmation hearings has been an inspiration. Gorsuch has an impeccable record of wise decisions and a sage and deep sense of balance about constitutional law – we could find no one better for our Supreme Court.

It is the times we live in that make it difficult to believe that even after he is confirmed that much will significantly change in American jurisprudence.

If abortion continues under protection of Roe, and faux-marriage continues under Obergefell then this nation will be in direct conflict with God. His laws and the prophets are witness against us and after an unknown period of time - God will intervene.

When our nation decides that laws like Roe and Obergefell need affirmation and acknowledgment to be referred to as “the law of the land” – we have dipped to new lows in the darkened state we call reprobation. The lawful pursuit of perversion and murder of the innocents is not law - it is blasphemy.

When our own laws take us to such lows we are barreling forward to a direct conflict with the prophetic message. We will not succeed against it. FULL POST

PC Devotees: Moral Issues are not the same as Social Issues

Let’s start with this right up front, this writer and the website I edit stand in full support of President Trump and the efforts of his entire administration. If we find fault it is only because of the great opportunity we now have to re-direct the nation back on a course, which will correct the long decline we suffered under the lawless Obama administration.

Recently, a friend sent an email in which he reminded me that great demonic forces are now attacking the Trump efforts to help our nation. I told him that I agree with him in every point he made.

Yet, there is the other side to the argument. Isn’t it also a propitious moment to check whether the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) is also trying to keep the new administration on course? Between the promises made to America and the strong call for the new leaders to deal with the moral issues that have plagued, divided and weakened our nation, shouldn’t the preachers, moralist, prophets and communicators in all fields be checking in on the administration and providing input and direction?

Let’s take an honest look. FULL POST
