I cannot ever remember hearing a prosperity preacher quote the Bible verse 1 Timothy 6:10 (ESV) which says, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."

In this short video preacher John Piper equates the prosperity gospel with idolatry. Piper says that God is glorified when we want only him, not his blessings. "That makes God look glorious."
